I've recently bought a collection of LoSH comics (from #190s to 300s) and would like to find out what are the highlights of this period, as I'm not too familiar with LoSH. I've heard good things about Mike Grell's stint, and the Great Darkness Saga looks interesting too... Just wanted to hear what others have to say about this title (both good and bad aspects) Thanks!

Right before Grell there was Cockrum--that was good.

Right before Great Darkness, was the other Giffen, and before that Pat Broderick--all good.

Between Grell and Broderick it was uneven, but the Jim Sherman material was excellent.

All the Paul Levitz stuff was good. Levitz was to the Legion what Claremont was to the X-Men.

Theres an issue of Superboy I used to have thats reprinted in vol. 11 of LoSH. I'm planning on picking it up. Is volume 11 with Paul Levitz? I believe Grell does art in it.

How do other archives compare to volume 11?

Paul Levitz started his Legion career the issue after Mike Grell left, so he's not in 11, and he's not going to be in the upcoming 12, either. His run would start being archived either a couple or a few issues into 13.

Karate Kid #1, written by Levitz, will be in Vol. 12. His first issue of Superboy was #225, which will be in Vol. 13.

As I recall Levitz had a crack at the LSH and it wasn't so spectacular. He went away. And then he came back and that was the run that everyone remembers.

That's true. The Earthwar (Superboy & the Legion #241-245) was good, but most of Levitz's late '70s run was pretty awful. When he returned to the Legion in the early '80s, he got much better.
